Didn't really wait. Good pictures don't often come by waiting. Its mostly about being ready. See something good? Grab the camera and click it! And better take a lot of clicks and different angles. Not all will be good. And if you are not sure what settings will work best, take pics with various settings. The choose which one(s) you want other to see!
This pic was chosen out of 5-6 taken of the same scene. Of course some touch-up helps too. This pic was originally reddish (like sunset). Playing with colour temperature, shadows, highlights etc made it the final version you see. I don't use any advanced photo editing tool. Just the basic features Picasa provides.
Lots of trial pics with not much extra cost is advantage digital camera provides. So if you are travelling, and expect to take lot of different pictures, and yet want to take many variations of the same pic, then you must have a large memory. I recently upgraded to 10GB from 2GB. With the old card also in my camera bag, I have 10+2 GB (Hehe sounds like educational quaification ;) ) with me all the time. And to support so much clicking, I also purchased a second battery with the new memory.
Thats my secret. I hardly know much about photography!
Actually some professional experts also use same technique I think, based on whatever I have seen on TV. During a 'photoshoot' they just keep taking lots of pics at a quick pace. Finally amongst the whole bunch of pics, only few chosen ones find way to exhibition, magazine, calendar, etc.
Hmmm sounds so much like me :) I just have a point and shoot and yet manage to capture breath-taking photos according to people. Yet point and shoot has its limitations. Procured a Nikon 7000 2 weeks ago. Its with my friend, waiting to lay my hands on it :)
